New technology programs will be launched as part of a nearly $15,000 funding program from the Ithaca Public Education Initiative in New York, the Ithaca Journal reported.
Some of the educational courses will include a Volkswagen propane engine, documentary filmmaking and the use of iPads, according to the news source.
"The grants from the winter cycle are awarded to Ithaca City School District teachers, staff, students and community partners" said the Ithaca Journal. "Ranging from $350 to $2,450, the $5,400 in community grants support curricular-enhancing programs within the school district."
This funding includes theater classes, as well as a summer gardening project, the report stated.
The new technology, in particular, could have immense benefits for the school district. Schools with cutting-edge technology such as a document camera, an interactive whiteboard or a
DLP projector can usher in a new educational age not found using textbooks.
According to the news provider, $9,500 will be allocated for an engineering course, as well as for iPads for DeWitt Middle School teachers Kelda McGurk and Stephanie Swearingen. The Apple products will serve as speech and occupational therapy tools.
