The Creekside Charter School in Tahoe City, California, recently received a $125,000 federal grant that will be used to improve its technology resources, reported the Sierra Sun. The new funds, when paired with the $250,000 awarded to the school last year, brings Creekside's federal grant total to $375,000.
A large amount of the funds will be reserved for technology purchases, according to the news source. The school is currently looking into buying 80 MacBooks and interactive whiteboards for its teachers and students to use in the classroom.
The grants and the promise of an advanced technology learning environment has led to marked school pride.
"An investment such as this is testament that our program is working for the students, the staff and the hands-on parents who deserve immense credit for making our school so unique, " Camille Taylor, Creekside director, told the media organization.
Along with the MacBooks and interactive whiteboards, school officials may consider buying additional educational technologies. Accordingly, different teachers have different styles, and some may want a high-tech computer, a 3D software program or a classroom projector.
Furthermore, teachers will be well versed in technology operating guidelines by the time the devices arrive, as the school scheduled upcoming technical workshops, reported the Siera Sun.
