July 18, 2011

Company fares well despite overall slump in video game salesL.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever were the respective No. 1 and No. 2 video games in terms of sales for the month of June, according to new figures from the NPD Group. The titles, both created by developer Take 2 Interactive, helped the company buck a downward trend that has plagued the rest of the video game industry lately.

Video game software sales saw a year-over-year slide of 11 percent, shrinking to $469.5 million for the month of June. However, the popular titles by Take 2 Interactive maintained steady sales, bringing in considerable revenue for the developer.

The new games feature action-packed gameplay and stunning graphics. Therefore, gamers looking to create an immerse experience while playing the titles may consider buying the latest in gaming hardware, such as an HDMI output chord, a high-definition TV or a DLP projector.

Like Take 2 Interactive, Microsoft is another company able to avoid the downward trend in the gaming industry. Recently, the company reported a year-over-yearincrease in sales for its Xbox 360 console, according to the NPD Group.
